@Bamakettles. Why did you use the gas tube instead of the port on the summit?
Because the summit gas tube sucks air anyway and this way I can control that.  When smoking on the summit (without a fan) I have to close the bottom vent all the way and the air intake through the gas assist tube is usually enough to keep it at 250F, closing the top lid about halfway.  Same exact setup with my performers and this solution solves that.

Quote from: Kalery on August 13, 2026, 08:07:46 PMHave you tried contacting Craycort directly? They may still have some 26" replacement inserts available even if they're no longer listed on the website. It might also be worth checking eBay or contacting a few US BBQ/grill parts suppliers, as older Craycort inserts sometimes turn up there. Hope you manage to find one -that broken section would definitely be worth replacing.
Thanks for the reply, I did email Craycort but they didn't reply, you're right though, worth replacing as i don't really have use for a griddle on there, it's just better than looking at an empty section for now lol. I'll send a few more enquiries

Try calling Mjaik. I ordered griddle plates for the kamado during the 2024 black Friday sale. They sent the wrong ones and gave me an extended return period because I was dealing with very serious medical issues. They told me that they didn't have the inserts when I called about the return. They called and told me that they found some when I finally sent them back a few months later.

Broom handle should work, or just and bit of slightly curved ended wood that you can press against it

From experience, I would definitely push out from the inside yeah. Lay it on something soft like a pillow/rolled up groundsheet/cardboard.

Don't hammer it- not even with a rubber mallet, just push it!

First time posting, long time grilling.

Just got a decent 1976 redhead with a bent lid handle. Looking at the best way to straighten it out. The lid handle got pushed down into the bowl enough to make the lid vent not seal any more so I need to pop that out at the very least. Should I tried and do a light burn in the kettle and straighten it while it's kinda hot still? Or I was thinking place the lid in a bed of play sand and push the dent out.

I have a 1977 brownie that had a bent lid handle and in the process of straightening it I damaged a lot more porcelain that I wanted to and don't want that to happen again. I used a dead blow and a short piece of a wooden broom stick for the brownie repair.

What's the best way or advice? And leave the bent handle section as long as the lid vent seals?

Quote from: Babekyu on September 30, 2026, 02:56:42 AMYes, very cool!  Is it secured somehow to the wood platform or does it just sit on top?

Thanks! It just sits on top. It's easy to roll the cart around and not worry about the WSM moving because of it's weight. Plus, I can easily dump crap in the bottom without having to detach it or anything.
