Title: Basement beans
Post by: HoosierKettle on April 02, 2017, 07:31:54 AM
I've tried unsuccessfully once before, but these turned out pretty good. I used a deep pie pan sprayed with canola, 4 cans bush's beans, sautéed onion green pepper, jalapeño, turkey smoked sausage, a little Tony's, and about a cup of famous daves sauce.  Placed in the bottom and cooked using a snake around 250-275 for 3.5 hours. That's how long the ribs took. The flavor was pretty incredible compared to my normal beans. I might add a spoon full of brown sugar next time.

Ribs were from Aldis. First time I've had theirs and I would buy them again.

Hopefully everyone enjoys the nice weather in the Midwest today. This was yesterday.

Yeah man it's beautiful today. I'm just burning a stump and going to family's today, so no cooking for me.

@1buckie those look great.  I haven't looked at the links yet but will.  I will try posting the pictures a different way.  I usually use the app and phone.

let me know if you can see these.

Also, have you tried green beans in the basement?  I was thinking those might be good. Maybe fresh garden beans.

Recipe link to the Smoke Ring contained in this story:

Ham base, beer brown sugar, bacon, etc.

The times I've done these have been on the cook grate...slightly more delicate , but they do have bacon..........

This one is for 1buckie. I think he was the first one I saw cooking in the basement extensively.

I posted this a few years ago. Some things never change.

This is a live cook tonight. Just went on.

Homemade rub of sugar smoked paprika homemade dehydrated chili's black pepper crushed with mortar and pestle garlic powder Tony's kosher salt.

Beans are two cans of kings ford bbq beans my wife bought and are tasteless on their own, 1 large can of pintos, sweet baby rays, smoked sausage, brown sugar, Tony's and probably a couple things I forgot. Beans are a pantry raid of what I have.
