Thank you for sharing these meaningful stories Michael.   You should indeed be very proud of their service and sacrifices.  Kellee’s grandparents also came here from Sicily in the early 1900s… She’s a Lanza with a very large family - like 64 first cousins alone.  Also interestingly, both my dad and brother’s names are Ralph.

The folks at Independence Porcelain Enamel restore tons of vintage ovens. I'm sure if you ask, Jeff will have a source for chrome plating. https://www.ipe-porcelain.com/ He can also porcelain enamel the grates if you want to go that route.

You should be deservedly proud of your families service and sacrifice for the country they loved. Hopefully everyone remembered someone on Monday they knew or are related to that served and made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. May they all not be forgotten.

My grand uncle Ralph (my dad’s namesake) was in the Army and was badly wounded in the Normandy D day invasion.   He passed in surgery to address his combat wounds about a year later back home in Chicago.   He had just turned 21, barely old enough to buy a beer.  He was just the 2nd Militello born in America.  Ralph would be 100 this October.    His older brother, James (my grandfather and my son’s namesake) also served in WWII in a tank battalion.

Uncle Ralph’s father, Charles ( my great grandfather) immigrated from Sicily in 1914 and also served in WWI despite only being a citizen for 3 years.   🇺[emoji1218]🇹

I am always proud to see how much these men loved their country.

I’m not so sure that’s a bad thing. I’ve noticed my kids being scratched by the bale
I have a Performer and a Kettle Premium, and sometimes I find myself using the Premium
because it doesn't have a bail. Can't spin the grate on the Performer because of the bail.
