My "Interesting" Side Table
« on: December 24, 2013, 07:09:05 PM »
I bought a used kettle a while back that came with two of these side tables. At first I thought that they were some homemade junk, but under closer scrutiny I found them to be very functional. Adjustable leg ends to fit kettles of different heights. Hinged brackets that fit the curve of a kettle bowl and fit under the lid.
I have two of them and they are identical. I can't find any manufacturer's markings on them anywhere. I know that they are not from Weber, but they sure do work well.
Has anyone seen anything like this before?

Thanks for looking!:)

I like it. You could even place a red hot chimney on it to keep it away from small children and dogs.

I really like it.

Reminds me of how they used to make ironing boards.

Might have to watch the roadside trash piles & make my own replica.

Mikey, they are definitely meant to be portable. The legs fold around the table and the whole thing lays flat.

When you close it up, do the locking rods fit into those secondary holes drilled along the side of the table to lock the legs to the table itself?
If it breathes, we can cook it!

It appears that the secondary holes are for that purpose, but I cannot get the pins to reach them.

I had a request for some details of this table.

First are a series of pictures of the "mystery" clips that attach the table to the kettle:

Next up, The table surface. Exact measurements are 25 7/8" x 18 5/16" x 1".

This underside shot also shows the hinge design. 2" aluminum strap, nuts, bolts and sleeves.

Legs are next. 1" aluminum tubing, very similar to kettle leg tubing:

The bend:

The retainer bar:

The adjustable feet. A hard plastic plug with threads tapped in it to accept a 6" long carriage bolt:

Mounted up to the bowl:

Lid on:

Let's cook!

Interesting. I have one that looks a lot like it. Might be identical but I'm not going out to the garage to compare right now. ;)

I found it in the bed of my truck following the last GTG (at Jeff's place) I'm pretty sure that G gifted it to mer
kettles, smokers...
