Defect or intended factory finish?

The lid on my Jumbo Joe Platinum has always bugged me.   As you can see, it's "speckled".   These specks are IN the finish, not overspray or any damage to the finish.

Is there something "wrong" with this lid, or this an intended finish?  (Sorry the lid isn't cleaner in the pic.  Just like all of the girls I've ever dated, it's a cooker, not a looker...LOL!)
Interested in ANY offset handle SJs you may have.

Heyjude

Can yo feel the specs? Did you try polishing it with steel wool?  AJ  8)
I don't care if you don't like my Avatar, its there for me..

Is it just on the lid or does the bowl have this too? The speckles look unique.

Jude-
No you cannot 'feel' these specks.  I should have put this in my original post, so far I've tried "cleaning" it off with oven cleaner, steel wool, lacquer thinner, and even some muriatic acid on a rag to no avail.   I'm guessing this part of the porcelain.

Craig-
No, it is not on the body of the grill, just the lid.  The bottom of the grill is just black and glossy.

Gotta be a defect, but a pretty cool one at that.

So does mine.
Not everyone deserves to know the real you. Let them criticize who they think you are.
