Rotisserie Results Using the Meater+

Posted a few pics of yesterday's rotisserie chicken cook on the '75 Gourmet earlier and thought I'd share some details.  Being the older style Weber rotisserie setup, the ring sits inside the bowl allowing a small air gap all the way around.  This kettle has new lower vents so they seal pretty well.  I ended up closing all 3 lower vents and the top vent which held ambient temps around 300F for most of the cook.  Results were fantastic with the best skin that didn't split like it usually does when my temps get away from me.  I used Postal Chick'n Rub which I highly recommend and Jealous Devil XL lump which I allowed to get good and hot before introducing the chicken on a spit.  First time using a slow n sear with drip n griddle on a rotisserie cook and it rocks.  Here are a few pics of the cook with Meater+ data and of course a picture of my grilling buddy.

Very nice looking cook! I'm going to try my roti on my gormet to see if it seats better. I typically put it on my SSP and have a decent air gap b/c it sits on top of the lid bale screws. Appreciate the pics!

Thanks!  This rotisserie setup actually came with my blue OTP used.... I've not used it on any kettles with lid bales because of the sitting on the screws issue - ticks my OCD to see it not level lol.  Works great I've found on a classic kettle if your lower vents seal decently.

Mouth-watering pics! I love drip pan taters.

I had an old style tabbed ring twenty years ago and that air-gap bothered me too. I wonder if you could put a thin gasket around some or all of the flange that sits down into the kettle?

When I picked up a kettle again a few years ago the Cajun Bandit ring was one of my first accessories.

Thanks!  I thought about gasket material, but I think I've found the grill / setup that works perfectly - just close all vents.  I've still got a prime rib in the freezer from the Publix holiday sale and it's going to spin on this Gourmet before too long.

Thanks!  Happy to have some grilling weather over the weekend and week start.  I took the day off yesterday and had a day with my grilling buddy.  Spent most of the day on the deck cleaning grills and experimenting with setups.
