Removing bowl handles
« on: October 19, 2021, 01:15:02 PM »
Hello,

Has anyone ever tried to remove the handles from a bowl? I have a tabbed bowl that I would like to remove the handles from (I prefer the look of the older bowls without the handles) and then send it to Independence Porcelain for a new color.

Does anyone have any advice in the best way to remove them and if so, any suggestions to get a ‘smoothish’ finish so that it will be unnoticeable after it is re-enameled. Thanks ahead for any advice given!

I’ve never done it.  I’m guessing a cut off wheel gets it started.  Probably a steady hand could grind it down flush.

I’m not sure independence will re-enamel a used bowl.  I believe they’ll only do new ones.

Good luck with your project.  Take pictures!
