Has anyone ever gotten older black grill stain and fading close to the original black?

Thanks, I know oil brings the black back, the only thing is I assume there is no permanent solution? Just keep oiling as needed?

Wax on, wax off, wax on, wax off. 

I believe the thread might be the one where a poster mentioned that if you oil one up with the grease stains, when it wears off it will basically wear off more evenly so the stains at least go away or are less noticeable.

The only permanent solution would be to have it re-porcelained and you'd have to drop a bundle for that.

I restored one last year and it looked pretty amazing right after washing it.  I didn't want any wax products on it and about a week later it went back to gray.  But I like it and man it cooks some good food!
