The plan is to take my Gen2 performer cart and chop it down to use as a side table for my Cado. Didn't like the idea of chopping the Cado to install into the performer cart.

I'd like to shorten the SS front Gen2 panel and use the stock utensil bracket.  Will try and keep the new side table as a four legger so it's a bit sturdy.

The first step was easy.. dismantling the cart and cutting the length down using a pipe cutter.

after chopping the length down, I sanded the tubbing where it will be welded back together.  I mocked up and assembled it while using the lower leg braces so when I tach weld this tubing hoping it won't warp up too bad.

Are you gonna remove that plastic piece so the kettle can butt up better? Maybe just a piece of flat stock welded down there instead?

SmokinPerformer2

Yeah it will be removed.. after I tach weld the tubing, I'll remove it so it butts up better like you mentioned. Right now that lower plastic brace is on just to keep things squared up

I like the idea!

Now I know what to do with the extra frame I have lying around
Dude, relax your chicken.

I ended up chopping  11 5/16" off the length.  Then to level it I cut off 5/8" off the front legs and 1 1/2" off the back legs.

Liking how this is coming out.  I leveled the metal table edge lip 1/2" from touching the Cados front handle.

Still need to figure out how to shorten the SS Gen2 face panel.

Seeking a Black Sequoia I know I know, I'd settle for just the tabbed no leg grill

Thanks!!

I'll be painting the legs a pale green color to match the Cado. Also I'm thinking  of making a custom wood front panel for the table in the future. It might be a better choice over the Gen2 stainless steel panel since I'm going for a vintage look. Will fabricate a lower shelf bracket out of metal to stay with the metal table design. I'll be utilizing the stock lower metal shelf so I can still install the charcoal plastic bin but will also need to chop this shelf down to size.

After some thought, I decided to shorten the Gen2 performer Stainless steel front panel. It seamed challenging at first to use the SS panel but I figured out a way to use it that shouldn't take too long to chop it down.

I needed to shorten the left side in order to fit the utensil holder. Without doing this the utensil tray wasn't fitting properly.   I used a cutting wheel to carve it out.

I also cut out the right side and this panel now sits in flush.  I left the lower corner sections longer to act as leverage while bending them around the legs. Once the bend forming was completed, I simply just cut off the extra material. It worked well.

Now off to form the right side.
