Thanks all... so I have to come clean. I wanted a glen blue before joining this group, and realized later that the likelihood of this happening is pretty slim. Since I have a metal fabrication background I decided to make on. The picture I posted is actually a early 70's patent pending Texan that has been repaired by me because the lid was damaged by the previous owner installing an oven thermostat in the top. I decided that I wanted to use the grill but was going to attempt to fix the hole and then try out powder coating a kettle to cover up the repairs. While I was at it, I might as well change out the wood handle to a MBH. For the record, I wouldn't ever sell it without disclosing this to the buyer.  Also, for those of you wondering how powdercoat holds up to heat, it doesn't. Tonight was the first full chimney burn with spread out coals and none banked on the side walls and the whole bottom is discolored.  I hope this doesn't offend any purists, just looking to RRR a bruised and beaten kettle into one I love. Here is some pictures of the project.Enjoy!

When I saw the top vent replaced with a custom vent & the rather mint condition with the wheels that were on it, I thought it might be fake.  Doubted anyone would drill out an original vent to replace it with a custom one.  Never seen a top vent rivet rust out.  Even if it had, the surrounding finish looked too cherry.  Nice job though.

Awesome fab skills @lilyankee!   Thanks for the update on how powder coating holds up to heat.  Cool build with some great welding!
