Steak for one on the p code ga
« on: March 31, 2019, 05:05:22 PM »
I have a gas ga and charcoal. One was missing a cooking grate. I cut this one out of the center of one of the many used 22” grates I have hanging in the garage. I heated it up and gave a quick scrape. A little rust has never bothered me. After a couple cooks it will be seasoned with grease.

I pulled a pre-seasoned ribeye that I previously vac packed out of the freezer. I have not tried to freeze a seasoned steak before so this will be an enlightening cook as to how it affects the outcome versus a naked frozen steak that I thaw and season.

It was great. I really couldn’t tell any difference. I would have to have another one side by side to know.  I am glad I resisted the temptation to add additional seasoning once it thawed. It was plenty seasoned.

And that cga rocks for a steak or two. 1/3 chimney takes no time to get going and the charcoal is right at the grate for a great sear.

I really should put a CGA into the rotation, maybe a nice red one, or black

That looks delicious! Did you reversed sear it?
