Am I old school?
« on: March 07, 2019, 04:07:03 AM »
So I was informed by my wife this week I am going to my cousin and his wife’s baby shower [emoji848]? “Isn’t that for the ladies?” I ask “yes but your invited and your going! “Besides other men will be there to” she said.

I told her “NO!” Then she said something that made me change my mind. Something I really never thought I would hear after 22 years of marriage and 24 years together... after all that time together she said “It’s at a Irish Pub!”

Well after she started making sense I change my mind! I asked what I should buy for the baby? Is it a boy or girl? She said the parents are waiting they want to be surprised. She already bought gifts not to worry about it.

So anyone that knows me I don’t show up empty handed to a party... sooooo I bought this. It’s good for baby boy or baby girl.

So I’ll let WKC judge me is this a gift you all would be proud to show up with?

Good gender neutral gift.  What kid would not want a play grill?

If you're like me, they'd expect you to show up with something like that.

Perfect gift, I see nothing wrong with a baby shower at an Irish Pub, should I be concerned with my thinking?
Seeking a Black Sequoia I know I know, I'd settle for just the tabbed no leg grill

I think it’s a perfect gift, of course with this crowd I don’t think you will get much of an opposing view on that.

I’ve been to a couple baby showers with my wife. Just another reason to get together and drink with your friends :)

Yes I’ve heard of this disturbing trend but this one get a pass for being at an Irish pub.

The gift is perfect. It starts early. I remember being in pre-school and one of my favorite things was the large toy kitchen / range lol.

My wife and I have been together and married the exact same time as you.

Concerned? Not at all. My sons  christening party was held at the Chicago Irish American Heritage Center where we had our own bar. Everyone left with 2 liters of Caffrey's irish ale in a 2 liter of soda bottle. Lol we had a great.

Well I hope they like it. I got them a grill as a wedding gift and then another as a house warming gift and they use them both.

And if they don’t... still Irish pub and open bar!

I am, and they would! Lol. If they complain I’ll bring a 22” LE to the kids first birthday party as a gift.

Ha...I just had the same experience...I got an evite for a baby shower for a couple I teach with (the husband Ben is a good friend of mine who has gone on a grill trip with me), at first, I was sure the email got sent to me by mistake, and I was a hard pass...but then I found out there would be a cornhole tournament and scotch tasting at the baby shower...I was in.  I have to say though, it was weird.  We all had to stop what we were doing for a few "New Baby" games.

I love your gift, we just gave a newborn photo session...

Finally, my buddy Ben's baby was born on Tuesday.  Chloe Elisabeth, 8 lbs. 7 oz.

Both of my daughters have those grills and they like them. Kids of both genders and of many ages play with them.
The whole couples shower thing is only acceptable if there is alcohol involved.

I’m sure the guys will not need to stop to play the games. If they make us no one but men will win. I printed up all the games, so I have the answers. Lol

HA

That’s a great idea

Our son and his wife are expecting. They’re not even telling Mom and Dad if it’s a girl or boy. It’s a BABY!

And the coed shower is at our house, so there’ll be plenty of grills around.

I think it’s an appropriate gift from Papu.

And for you amateurs out there, we’re married 41 years on the 18th.

Thanks for the gift idea!
Dude, relax your chicken.

I worked in a female dominated field (Special Education) for 38 years - just retired.

When I got my first invitation to a shower, I told them that I only go to pre-Events if they involve a pole and large stack of ones ! ! !
