Jules, you are slowly having me think I need to be your neighbour with your homemade contraptions [emoji4].

Looks great. I've got something in transit to me (from ceramic grill store).

I'd much rather have made it myself if I had the skills.

So what's the mystery item in question?  Im terms of fabricating all these grill accessories, it's  mostly basic stuffs requiring very few tools such as a drill, wrench, angle grinder and a screwdriver.      That's all the tools that i used for all my mods. Never done this type of work before either.  Obviously you need to be motivated and willing to put up the time to actually get it done.
And oh yeah i wish i have some family members, friends, or neighbors  that share my passion.

Not much a mystery item but something similar to your invention.

Not my invention. Just a  knockoff, though it's probably a lot more sturdy than the real thing.  Best part is that it cost me  about $10 for  2.

Living in London in a one bedroom apartment.

Dreams of joining you on the DIY front are all but that at the moment.

Good on you, I have to get a damn tray on top of that purchase to add to the cost

Use a thick tray if possible to avoid  warping and  also burning the bottom.

At least the price you paid for is quite reasonable compare to the one offered here.
