Napoleon Cast Iron Grate
« on: April 16, 2018, 05:10:12 PM »
Bought the Napoleon cast iron grate for my LE Red kettle. I like how the hinged grates are removable and how it fits the Weber as advertised. I dislike not being able to attach the handles provided as it rubes on the inner bowl and the gaps on the outer ring prevents you from placing the grate certain ways due to falling through the tabs. Hope I get good seat marks on cooks! If not replacing with the craycort version.

These grates have been added to the list of all cast iron grates for the Weber kettle. Thanks for the heads up!

Those gaps allow you to set the grate closer to the coals.
On a Nappy grill there are a second set of tabs.
So 2 level grilling.

With a propane torch and a vise you can bend the handles
so they have clearance.

@Transit98 the package slip said it weighs 20lbs.

@ayardBurner I saw the two level cooking on the Napoleon kettle. I’m going to just let it ride without the handles attached.

20 pounds is a good hunk of iron.
About 4 pounds more than my Stok grate.

Love the double flip ups!

Dare I ask if anyone has any opinions on these vs Craycorts? I know Cray has the quad setup so there are more pieces to keep track of. Anyone cook on both?

The handles should clear both lid & bowl if they are facing inward.

So where’s the best place to get one of these??  I was going to get a weber insert for my system but I have two performers side by side so I may as well dedicate one to cast
