I used steel wool to remove the rust. then I washed it with dish soap and water and towel dried it. Then I coated it on olive oil and baked it in the oven at 350 for an hour. Then I coated it with one last layer of oil.

Does anyone use a lid for their skillet? I use my 12" most often and the wife wants a lid to reduce grease splatter

If it’s a lodge you can buy one at target for $19.99. Or amazon for a couple dollars more. It’s a glass lid. I use a lid from a nonstick skillet that happened to fit that I already had.
