Been a while but beer can chicken is still a favorite, especially with drip beans.

Rubbed the chicken down with a favorite rub then placed them on the cans.

Then I prepared the beans with my favorite ingredients.

Mixed them together.

Lit off the grill and brought it up to temp.

Put the beans on.

Followed by the chicken.

Meanwhile, melted some butter and apple juice and basted every 20 min.

Cooked to temp.

While I let it set I cooked the extra sausage.

Carved the chicken and ate.

My wife said the beans tasted like sugar.

All that looks amazing. Chicken looks super juicy and beans look tasty.

Yum . Looks really good.  I like the beans idea . Sounds like I might have to try that!

Looks great but I have one question. Do you finish the beans over high heat when the chicken comes off? I'd feel a bit uneasy letting chicken drip into my beans.

I've never done beans under chicken but I assume a high heat finish wouldn't be necessary as the beans usually simmer the entire time. When chicken is  finished, beans should be safe to eat but I'm only guessing. You could always probe the beans. If beans cook 2 hours I'm guessing temp of beans would 200ish but again, just guessing.

That all looks incredible. My usual beans are ver similar except I use brown sugar and famous daves instead of jelly and baby rays.

I did finish them on a high heat but I don't think it was necessary, better safe than sorry.
