Not that you don't have nice beaches in The OC, but it might be a good excuse to drive up the coast. It's not quite the half way point between you and me - I think your trip would be a little longer.

Pismo is close, just a few miles short of 200 miles for me. And my wife is ready for a trip to Pismo. 

Just a quick stop on the way back. And the best part is, she's all for it
