I'm looking to replace my Maverick knockoff "Ivation". Two failures in less than a year
It actually still works, but one of the probes bit the dust today. The wireless receiver loses signal quite easily too.
I do not want to use an oven "dial" thermometer for this application. Our vintage indoor oven had a problem and the service tech replaced the thermostat and informed me the "dial" thermometer I had in there was off by 30 degrees.
Right now, for less than $50, I could get a ThermoWorks "Dot" and a high temp air probe. I primarily use the digital stuff for low 'n slow cooking and want something affordable, accurate and reliable to measure the pit temp at grate level.
I am not in a hurry to get this and wanted to see if any of you have first hand experience with the Dot. Also, I am open to suggestions for other products.
