Hell Fire Grill

This was my first time growing and cooking sugar pumpkins.

The directions say to put cooked stew into raw pumpkins but I put the pumpkins on and let them warm up while the stew finished cookin because time was short.

About 20 minutes later.

Pumpkins are ready.

The stew is ready.

Filled them about 1/2 way. Which ended up being plenty although I originally intended to fill them but apparently didn't make enough stew.

All getting happy.

Done

Its just a simple stew with no recipe but I cooked some pork with carrots, onions, garlic, potato, chicken broth, and some chanterells.

They cooked for about an hour and a quarter or so altogether, around 350*. You'll have to be careful not to overcook them because the bottom of the pumpkin will fall out when you pick it up. A piece of foil or cast iron skillet under the pumpkin will keep that from happening. Fortunately I used the Swiss mod and didn't overcook them.

Well sort of... I didn't use a thermo though. Just took the lid off a few times to turn them, so they dont scorch the skin, and poked lightly with a finger tip. The only thing keeping the pumpkin from pissing the bed is the paper thin orange skin.

This meal is really easy to cook and GUUUUD!

I can honestly say this is the first time I've had any real interest in getting a pumpkin. Now, to figure out the stew part.
It's the iconic symbol for the backyard. It's family/friends, food and fun. What more do you need to feel everything [is] going to be all right. As long as we can still have a BBQ in our backyard, the world seems a bit of a better place. At least for that moment. -reillyranch
