Got mine finished up today. Super easy build. I fired it up today to get my feet wet before a camping trip and I'm amazed. I lit six coals and dumped them on a small pile of unlit coals. The temp rise to 210 with the vents wide open. Closed the bottom vent half way and she's been sitting at 230-235 for two hours. It's the easiest thing I've ever cooked on. And it's my first ever brand new Weber!
I basically used an 18 charcoal grate, 12" terracotta pot base, 2 14.5 cooking grates a imusa tamales pot and some SS hardware. I highly recommend this project. Super easy to build, easy to use and it's pretty cool.

Nice mini!
Did you cut out the bottom or drill holes? I've got an older smokey joe just waiting!

Wanted: 18" Platinum any color will work
This is my Kettle there are many like it but this one is mine......

I cut the bottom. Used a jig saw with a metal blade. Cut through easily.

Add my vote - it's one of the most versatile cookers in my arsenal.

The new mini looks awesome.  How big of a pot is that?  Please post more pictures of the inside - I have to have more details!

Check the tvwbb site. They're the mini authority, and that's where I got the info for mine.

I got all my info on the build on tvwbb website. They have all the info you will need. I didn't take pics when I was building it. I was in a rush and left for camping the next day. I used the mini a few times up camping and couldn't be happier. I smoked some chicken wings and some sausages. It worked great. I'll post up more pics when I get it cleaned up.

I am not a collector, but I do have a small collection.

I drilled holes for mine rather than cutting out the bottom and mine will sit at 230 for hours.  Sometimes I have to give my temp gauge a little tap to make sure it is still working cause the thing just does not move.

Craig

I made one out of this beauty!

Just kidding, it actually belongs on my red Budweiser SJ...

From what I've read the Vasconia steamer stock pot was a great fit but I can't find one anywhere. I've heard other brands are hit and miss. Any recommendations on a brand that fits well?

These pots are very hit or miss regardless of brand or retailer. Best advice. bring your "clean" lid with you and test fit in store. Many people found matches at latin grocery stores or dollar stores.
