If you gave it another coat with the Rustoleum High Heat Ultra, you'd recreate the original satin finish as opposed to the matte. That's splitting hairs a bit, I know.  I really like the bolt fix you show here, and overall think everything is looking grate!

Found the Ultra, (thanks for the tip @jkolantern) finished the fire box and gave the end panels another couple coats. Assembly going well, although I hit a snag when I realized something had chewed through the gas hose. Oh well, that will give the paint longer to dry before I get anxious to try it out. Looking good if I do say so myself:

That's very nice, Marty. I can't wait to see the wood on it.

Called Weber CS, and no surprise they cannot help with the hose. Can I just swap in a length of standard LP hose? (Is there a source for that, or can I find it at a local hdwr place?) Can I adapt a hose/regulator from a newer model? So close to firing this baby up.

EDIT: Ordered a direct replacement (Weber Part # 62565) on Ebay. Should bolt right in.

Can't see why a regulator and hose from a Genesis A wouldn't work.  You'd probably want to swap it out anyways as it probably had the older style regulator.

Kettle collector AND cooker!

Wow that star nut replacement seems really clean and very solid.  Nice thinking!

And the whole thing looks amazing.

Does anyone know the part number or where to find the rubber valve seals that go on the post of each valve? It's a flat piece about 2" in diameter. I don't see them on any schematic I can find. I'll need some for a couple projects, so want to order a handful while I'm at it. Thanks.

Heyjude

Pardon the size of the pic, but this rubber part?
I don't think you can buy it separate from a manifold.
Maybe someone has some old ones floating around or you could look for some material to cut them from.
Maybe an inner tube or??

@MartyG

I don't care if you don't like my Avatar, its there for me..

I'll check to see if I have any of those weather seals in my stash...

---HEY waitaminit!!  Are we all just going along with the preposterous notion that @MartyG is working on a RED grill??  Obviously someone has hijacked his account and taken us all for a ride!

I was wondering when SOMEBODY would notice !!!!!!
"If you want it fancy there is BBQ spray paint at home depot for that. "
    Covered, damper-controlled cooking.....IF YOU PLEASE !!!

Yup, that's it. I can make up a couple, but surprised it's not a replacement part. I can do without given this will never see rain, but in the interest of our second R, why not seek perfection? Dig deep Mike!

And yes, it is undeniably red, but the only Jr. I've come across locally. Kind of growing on me, almost to the point where I can visualize a Jr. / Sr.  Redhead duo on my grill deck.  Geez, did I just say that?

On the other hand, If someone offered to swap a black Jr. hood, I'd be tempted.  ;)

Winz

Marty - simply awesome work - your care are craftsmanship are really showing through.

I did not even realize there was a jr model until this post.  I now find myself scanning C/L for gassers...

@Winz I might have to write up the history of the Genesis someday! I've worked on so many I should know every nut and bolt by now anyway. The little guy is really nice! Fun to work on such a scarce grill.
