Actually, yes. I'm a city boy at heart, but a friend talked me into floating a few years back (changed my life). An adjacent camp site was a bunch of Cajuns. They had been hunting all weekend long. A few stayed back during the float to make gumbo. After a day drinking beer on the river, delicious.
Still need a 22" yellow

used to eat squirrel as a kid. My dad and I would go hunting and we'd eat our score for dinner.

I remember it being quite delicious, and easy to clean too.

I don't think your slingshot is going to kill a squirrel though.

I don't know. Lots of folks seem to like to show off their kills online!  One guy got a rabbit.

I got a Trumark. I plan to make clay shot. Cause I'm cheap and i don't want to litter the yard will steel shot or marbles

Sorry I couldn't resist the Brick Tamelyn meme. I forgot to mention that I have had squirrel and it's not bad. My uncle did an "Ozark" themed Christmas dinner one year and we had that and rabbit and pheasant. Tasty Pheasants, Christmas presents.... I was 12. It was a great year.

I guess now I'm a bit nervous about getting one with some kind of disease. Is that a reasonable worry?

If it acts healthy and running normal take it and eat it, if its not leave it for another predator.

Why dont you shoot the birds instead? If you setup the feeders just right you can get a dozen with one 12ga.
You can't always get what you want....but if you try sometimes you get what you need

I rolled my own clay shot. I had a shoot out yesterday with a greedy little bastard. Took about a dozen shots from 50 ft. He kept jumping up the branch and back down to the feeder when I reloaded. Finally tagged him. He fell out of the tree and ran into the bush!  The rush of combat!!!

My Grandpa and my Uncle were hunters. They'd bring home all kinds of game, including squirrel. My Grandma was a great cook, and always did their haul up right. I liked squirrel... haven't had it in years.
Multiple kettles and WSM's. I am not a collector, just a gatherer... and a sick bastard.

Mix cayenne pepper with your birdseed. The birds don't care but the squirrels hate it,

It's always better when you're cooking on a Weber!

I see this is an old thread, but it's squirrel season right now!
I've only pan fried squirrel with basic seasonings. Never tried on the grill.

I got a few firing crab apples growing up.  I didn't eat them though.
