I have not been very active on the kettle acquisition front lately.  Had to make a trip down to Sacramento yesterday and decided to see if there were any things worth pursuing.  Ended up coming home with this:

Pat Pending, small bowl tab:

Can't believe how clean the bowl is.  This person did not grill much and apparently cleaned up the kettle after she did:

Vents are all there and work.  No dings or rash to speak of.  Legs and triangle are in great shape with the usual surface rust.   It should clean up nicely!

From the small bowl tab, Pat pending, and half plastic/half rubber wheels I would peg this as a 70 - 73.  The ash catcher needs some touch up but is in perfect shape with no deformities.  This kettle has been used very little and well cared for:

A good way to start the weekend!

Indeed.  Had a long drive back to Placerville and gave you a call to catch up.

What a beauty, and it looks mighty solid! I love how the ash pans on the old 18's are almost more of a plate than a pan. It gives the kettle a really sharp/precise look to it if that makes any sense at all... it looks perfectly balanced.

Great find Winz!

Very nice Winz!  Don't see many 18.5" black patent pending.

If we were meant to grill with gas then the garden of Eden would have had a pipeline
