Gettin' slap-happy w /the sauce?
« on: March 22, 2014, 03:56:39 AM »
 Do you sauce?

   How much?

     When?

      In Foil, after foil?

         On the Side?

Other items besides ribs, pork, on a sammie, etc. ?

These are various ones I've tried & was wondering how others go about this....pics would be great, but just ideas or opinions are fine too !!!

Apricot/Jalepeno Jelly & reg. BBQ sauce mixed....REAL spicy.......applied kinda late & not real set up......

Sprayed w/ Apple juice/cider vinegar & jalepeno olive oil several times, last half of cook....

Cooked in foil w/ bread'n'butter pickle juice & BBQ sauce for 2/3 cook

then glazed w/ same.......

Blueberry/Chipolte sauce/marinade, cooked like the ones above....

Choink Balls, on the left, don't sauce 'Turds usually...........

Bronco Bob's meatballs...

Sometimes meatball things get stuck in a pan, sauced & then covered so they steam & coat.....

I got buttloads of different sauces laying around & wanted to use some up............ :D

So what do others do, curious?

Great pics. I like your thinkin outside the box use of sauces.

Lately I've been trying to go minimal sauce. I tend to glaze a modified SBR's or KC style sauce towards the very end just so it sets.

Looks like I should be dabbling w/ more ideas tho!

I got slap-happy with some sauce this past weekend....tryed Mixon's cupcake chicken recipe, but with two spatchcocked halves.

Recipe for the chicken glaze:
•1 cup Jack’s Old South Vinegar Sauce or Basic Vinegar Sauce
•2 cups Jack’s Old South Hickory Sauce or Basic Hickory Sauce
•1 cup ketchup
•1 cup honey
•1 cup maple syrup
•1 1/4 cups seedless blackberry preserves
•8 tablespoons (1 stick) unsalted butter, at room temperature

Saucy!   ;D

I like how you experiment and try so many flavors Buckie.  My GF always wants stuff done the same way every time, I want to try new things and experiment.

Lol!! That's funny but I won't go there.

Reproducing results is more difficult than experimenting. IMO.

Do what you want but make sure it's good and she will eat it. Better yet..buy a little extra and prepare some like she likes it and do what you want with yours. Everyone wins!

Max...I'm gonna try that sauce. Looks awesome. I love blackberry jam!

This thread has me inspired to get slap happy wit da sauce!! Thanks buckie. Makin plans for dinner already
