Ever Get Something Extra When You Go Craigslisting?
« on: January 30, 2014, 04:07:49 PM »
Saw a 22.5" Rotisserie show up on my local craigslist and it wasn't too far from work so I ran up there and picked it up for $30.

Owner told me he only used it a few times. I would agree.

Started chatting him up about other grills he has had and he tells me he has an old Weber that he has to scrap because many years ago he tried to hot rod it and drill out the gas orifice. He was concerned about the liability if it blew up on someone. I tell him he should not throw it away as I am fixing up my Genesis and could use it for parts. We go back and forth and agree that he could take out the offending orifice and he would let me have the rest.

It was only then that he showed me into the back yard and he showed me this......

It's a little crusty but has very few chips.

Here is the part he kept.

Am I in for a long search to find one of those?

I haven't even started looking.

I'm too excited that I finally got my Red Head

Amazing score BigRix! That Performer will clean up like new! And no issue finding the part to get the burner up and running. I replaced the same parts from Weber not long ago. Looks like your tank has a modern valve too - that's a bonus. One thing for sure: You get the 2-fer of the Month award!

I would call that a little more than "something extra".  How about "something extraordinary"!

Congrats!

a kettle Roto is on my buckle list, I just have a really hard time with shelling out $150, $30 is a steal

First round of the clean up.

I haven't called Weber yet but looking for an orifice online at Weber and Ereplacement I can only find it sold as a hose assemble.

Is that how y'all have bought them before?
