Sanford & Son
« on: November 22, 2013, 08:41:46 AM »
::)1/2 block from home found this

Well not only was it gone in 60 seconds, it was in my backyard within 180  ::)
Easy to rehab, 1 wheel was off , but kindly inside the grill.
The cooking grate is well used & I'll need a new one.
3 quarter sized areas of porceloin missing.
I need a fastener for the wheel & it's good to go

New Grate

If it's a weber, I can't pass on it. That's my sickness! I hope I am never cured.

Nice score!

Don't toss that cooking grate.
Spray with some oven cleaner, then put it into a garbage bag in the sun.
30-60 minutes later, scrape the crud off with whatever you have on hand.
Hose it off, then see how it looks.  Spray some Pam on it and that will prevent future rust.
I also like to hit it with a weed-burner.

Ya ... I, too, am curious.  :)

nice score!

it looks goopy on the inside, like someone threw up in it.

also, the center section of the charbroil grate looks like it has wider rods than it used to. Did they change the design a bit??

Center section looks to be upside down and might be throwing the view off.
I have a couple of these on my performers and they are great for the price.

Cost about $30 delivered from amazon , it's a charbroil universal kettle grate.
I turn center upside down to grill fish seafood ,veggies & other fragile items.

Description says grate is dishwasher safe?

Cast iron in the dishwasher?......weird
"The grates are made of heavy-duty, porcelain-coated cast iron"
kettles, smokers...
