Question for the Dark Blue OTG owners
« on: November 19, 2013, 11:23:25 AM »
I had a chance to see one that was new in the box at the local ACE hardware. Is the paint supposed to be splotchy on it? It looks like it needs another coat of paint, almost like it was painted over a white finish. After my disappointment with the new copper I thought a blue would fill the void. Now I'm hesitant to order one. I have a brick red and a green performer and the finish is flawless.

They aren't a solid blue like the royal, but I really like mine.

If you can locate a nice used one it may save you a little money?

I ordered a new one around Labor day and I love the color and finish:

That looks great! I'm definitely getting one. I was just worried that the finish was not normal.

If it's a weber, I can't pass on it. That's my sickness! I hope I am never cured.

I finally got to see two blues in person this year.... one was at an Ace Hardware store in Decorah Iowa and the other was a '96 MasterTouch that was right next to a '99 red I picked up a couple months ago. They both appeared a little purpleish. But I know Duke and Brian have said numerous times that no two blues are alike. I'm dying to find an early MBH blue or even an early wood handled 1981 era blue 22.

My MHB blue is definitely not purplish, it's a solid blue. My 2013 blue does have that purplish hue though. Two totally different colors.

I know this is a blue discussion but it's also a new color
discussion. I saw a new crimson this weekend. It was a matte finish. I'm not a fan of that at all. I have yet to see the blue. I'm sure I would like it tho.

I broke out the blues to line them up side by side to highlight the color difference between the OTG and the MT that I have. Both colors are really nice and I would have a hard time picking just one...which is why I have two..

My MT is sporting the new zandles...Thank you Brian!

Yes, I know the ashcatcher is on wrong on the MT...

Installed hotmatic wood zandles on my SS performer too...

Here's some pics of what I was talking about. It looks like it's faded a little.

It followed me home. It has the purple hue Craig mentioned. It's a current AT model.
