We had the final piece made up for the ranch this week..... A drip tray
The problem we were having is catching the fat from whatever we cook to the point where the ash catcher was half full after cooking a lamb or pig, it also makes cleaning a PITA. We tried covering the charcoal grate with foil and folding up the edges and a couple of disposable drip pans but the results were average at best
So here's the new drip pan and it's a monster!!!
Because of the size we used 5mm Aluminum

2 inch sides

Perfect fit between the charcoal baskets

And here it is next to my 26er and 22 drip pans
I'm only 2 or 3 kettles away from being that creepy guy down the street with all the Webers

Hogsy-
That is fantastic!   I'm going to have to make one of these for our slow (off-set) cooks to catch the drippings.    I see that the sides are 2" tall.  How wide is it between the charcoal baskets?

(Yes, Greg...  I'll make you one too..)   ::)

Absolutely unreal you guys! Not only the fact that you MADE a roti for that ranch, but the quality!! ~ Fit and finish is seriously awesome.

This EPIC post deserves an honorary entry into Mod Month IMO! @MartyG ?! Technically the final unit was not completed until October right?!?  ;)

Wow.

I'll have to go under the hood to make that call  ;)  Truly one of the coolest mods we've seen. The OZ-Mod Squad boyz are crazy good. I hear they built a special vehicle designed to carry around some of their amazing creations:

Hogsy, outstanding. The do need this, as they are a PITA to clean after the cook.

Art, I'm waiting... ;)

Hey Art, what does it take to get on this list?

Thanks you, I knew you guys would appreciate it.
These are really easy to make all you need is some cardboard, packing knife and some $$$
I start by tracing the curve of the charcoal grate onto some cardboard, you want to make it about an inch longer than the actual grate as the tray will be longer than the charcoal grate due to the shape of the bowl.

Then fit the cardboard in the bowl on top of the charcoal grate and trim till your happy with the fit.
Set the charcoal baskets up in the kettle on top of the cardboard and mark where they fit.
Trim the cardboard to fit the baskets until your happy with the fit. This should only take about 10mins

I then take the template to a fabricator/welder and get them to make it.
The sides only need to be an inch high for a 22 kettle

Just make sure you cover in foil when cooking it makes an easy cleanup when your finished

Hogsy-
Great write-up with the cardboard on a standard kettle.   Mind if I ask how wide the Ranch version is between the homemade charcoal baskets?

Thanks Hogsy.  That converts to be about 20 inches imperial.   Now that I looked through some of the earlier posts, I see that the charcoal baskets are "approx. 9" wide", so that math works on a 31.5" charcoal grate.

Thanks a bunch!

Instead of pictures I get an image that says “please update your account to enable 3rd party hosting”

Are these pictures anywhere else on the web?
I have s Ranch kettle and would like to do the same build.
