Game day Pulled Pork and Beans (pic heavy)
« on: September 29, 2013, 03:57:55 PM »
Rewarded with a win...sorry Cowboys

Set up the Snake last night with the last of a bag of hickory chips and a few cherry chunks

A nice brew to shut down the day

The Snake 5:30a

Without flash, cool pic. Still dark at 5:30a

Got the beans soaking in some H2O

Pound of bacon and a whole onion

Picnic butt rubbed all night, nothing new added. Outta the fridge and into the fire

See Y'all in 3 hours

Beans about ready for a 3 hour nap in the oven (waiting for the 3 hour roast check)

3 hours and looking good

See some beans down there soaking up little drops of gold!

Roast out at 6 hours probed t 195-200, promoted beans to top shelf for another 2 hours while the pork slept

A little corn for the last half hour

So soft and tender mmm mmm

A llittle more moisture next time but all in all great

Time for a some ripping and tearing ripping and tearing

Guess the pork was OK with a left to right burn. Just joking  ;D

Looks fantastic.

Was that a small butt?  After 6 hours I'm only half way through my butt cooks.  Firing up the WSM for an overnight butt cook and adding drip beans in the AM.  Looks great!
I've always had gas...  And now a bunch of kettles because of this place.  Thanks!

Was a 6-7lb picnic butt with large bones and the snake was averaging 275. I was surprised by the cook time but the therm doesn't lie, once I saw 200 I pulled out. Decent ring and great texture, so moist. I'm very satisfied.

Cook looks great James! The pork looks super moist and the size of those rolls puts mine to shame. ;)

Thanks guys! I'm still enjoying the leftovers. Stir fry tonight to finish it off, to bad I don't have a wok. Those buns aren't as big as they seem, it's a smaller kaiser type roll the local store sells. I can usually eat 3 ;D
