Has anyone tried putting new tread on old metal wheels?
« on: September 14, 2013, 05:39:15 PM »
I thought I posted this earlier for some reason, but can't find it?

Anyways, I bought a fanbelt and it was just too stiff and didn't work, so i'm looking for other ideas.

Shoot....I had the same idea about fan belts.  I assume the treads were completely missing?  Too bad because that wheel are in nice shape.  Were there any options for a thinner/more pliable belt?

Industrial machinery is what it's used for, so I would think a manufacturing place for 'forwarding materials' machines....or 'industrial pumps' may be a place to start.....I'll do a little checking if time permits......

For the thick fan belts that look like that, go to the dragstrip.....those folks change out their engines after EVERY ROUND......they must do something with the used fan belts..... 8)

    Covered, damper-controlled cooking.....IF YOU PLEASE !!!

Giddy up....that looks like it would work.  You could fill the wheel with something....possibly black silicone caulk and lay this right over the top.

Try Msc, McMaster Carr, Misumi, Grainger.

These folks at Global industrial always have what I'm looking for:
