Some days you have the blues..
« on: August 27, 2013, 07:54:06 AM »
Some days you just wake up with the blues, and in my world that's a great thing.

As of 6:30 my day will get really good as a personal grail gets crossed off....

But until then here's some visual entertainment to keep you busy:

The guitar master Stevie Ray Vaughan live in Nashville

http://youtu.be/u97vVcNTyis

Will update when the goods are received...

I'm jealous! That's a concert I'd love to been at! A cool little tid bit about Hendrix, he was stationed in Fort Campbell TN about 30 miles from me.

My favorite album including him is the band of gypsies, with Buddy miles and Billy Cox. There is so much soul going on in that recording it gives me goosebumps!

I was fortunate enough to see SRV in Toronto less than a year before he died.
Today happens to be the 23rd anniversary of his death.
And I did shed a tear or two when I first heard the news of his death.  :'(
Q: How do you know something is bull$h!t?
A: When you are not allowed to question it.

Well......Me & my buddy did sneak, or actually were let in for free.....along with about 50~60 other people at one particular gate.......

In remembering this & then researching a bit, I found that it was a sold attendance of 8,000 & an actual attendance of 17,000......ah, the good old days....... 8)
also found that a good friend of mine, Mark Henson did the backdrop painting, along with Craig Chaquico, later guitarist for Jefferson Starship

Oh man SRV oh got me going today, read this post and put on his Pandora station all day at work. Wished I would have been old enough to go to one of his concerts before he passed. My uncle tried to take me to one but my parents said I was to young. I was seven when he tried too.
Looking for--- a yellow mbh any size, sequoia ( I know I am dreaming), avocado any size, brownie any size.

Buckie I'm jealous.  I love Hendrix.  I'm too young to have seen him.  I did see Stevie Ray back maybe in 90'?  I also saw Nirvana before Kurt blew his head off.  I did see Alice in Chains too before Lane Staley died.  Saw Slayer recently with Jeff Hanneman, he's gone too.  I tell you I can't turn "Voodoo Child" up loud enough.... it's fucking great

Long as we're still semi-off topic.....

Here's the set list for that day.....

 'Cal Expo' Sacramento, California USA
Sunday, April 26th, 1970

1. Lover Man
2. Spanish Castle Magic
3. Freedom
4. Machine Gun
5. Foxy Lady
6. Room Full Of Mirrors
7. Ezy Rider
8. Purple Haze
9. Star Spangled Banner
10. Voodoo Child (Slight Return)

....oh and this was the first of numerous times I was almost run over by 60's popular culture icons...................
.....my buddy grabbed me as Hendrix's limo went shooting by at a high rate of speed thru the side lot of the grandstand.....

I was safe for years until we went to see an eletronic music presentation, Seastones, a composition by some Grateful Dead members at Dominican College in San Rafael,Ca in 1975, I believe.........
It was supposed to be only two people, the bassist & a guy from MIT with a huge computerized music setup.....but Garcia, David Crosby & the drummer Mickey Hart also showed.....

Small BMW comes racing down the path & again a buddy pulls me out of the way....Garcia in the passenger seat......my guess was Crosby was driving......

Safe for another long time & then friends & I are putting together a booth at a "New Age Fair" in the early 90's (this is California, after all ) some other friends have another booth right next to a very large open doorway leading into the main hall, where the main speaker for the evening, Timothy Leary, yes that Timothy Leary, 1st person to die live on thje Internet on purpose Timothy Leary, got away from all the 60's hoopla & into highly evolved child development studies Timothy Leary.......who, walking thru the side hall to go to where he would speak, almost runs me down, on foot, Timothy Leary............

FF to 1998 & the Furthur Festival at Shoreline Amphitheater Mountain View, CA........
Afriend & I are going down the sidewalk from the parking area to the venue, I grab her just as the limo carrying Bonnie Raitt comes flying across the walkway headed toward the backstage area......

So there's all my near misses with being almost run over by famous people.....

.....now, where were we?

...Ahh.....Blue Kettles...... ;D

Target acquired! One blemish on the bowl about the size of a nickel and a few dings on the edge of the lid rim. The ash sweep works and the ash pot is solid which was my biggest worry. It's dirty and needs handles and a leg end cap everything else is there. It's a beauty!!

And I have no problems being off topic especially when good music is involved!
