Rustoleum spray paint, dark green color.

Looks great, is that a Flat Green or Gloss?

Gloss

I can't find Gloss Green High Temp. Does it need to be High Temp?

It's not high temp...I figured I'm not directly putting coals in there so it should be fine...if not we redo it once in awhile.

Looks great, but the ash ring needs some shine.  ;)

Yeah it does! I'm just not privy to the equipment the others have to make em shine.

Also, this style is harder to clean than the kind with the 'cut style' diagrams.  The plaques on these are always a pain to clean.

I haven't polished a cut-out version yet.  For these, it's just various grits (100-400) of sandpaper followed by 0000 steel wool & Mothers Mag Polish.  Yes, I do use a 1/4 sheet palm sander for the various grits, but finish each grit by hand with the grain.  It would be better if I didn't stop at 400 grit, but that's what I have.  (both on hand and patience for)  lol

Here's my Red SS

And my Blue SS

I've always had gas...  And now a bunch of kettles because of this place.  Thanks!

So nice bman.  Those plaques look to be in great shape still!

Bman did you get the large washer on the bottom to fit onto the 7409 ash sweeper? I cannot get that bad boy on. There is not enough room between the ash sweeper arm and the brace that holds the ash pan up on mine. I left it off for now until I figure out a solution.

Thanks G$ and yes the plaques were in good shape to begin with.  Just some light & careful 0000 on them.

Landgraftj - nope, that washer did not get installed on the blue SS when it got replaced.  The red SS has the original sweep (I believe) and it doesn't have a washer either.  Works for this guy.  :)

The old ones with a 7409 sweep don't use the washer.. The bracket itself is the washer..

Round orbital sander or square? I have an orbital and may try it out.

Also, do you guys find that the polished ones resist tarnishing better than the standard finish? Clearcoat over the top maybe?

Poblanos, jalapeņos, bell peppers. Roma and cherry toms too.
