Today's Topic: Copper OTS to OTG
« on: August 08, 2013, 07:03:23 PM »
Seems to be a common thread theme today  ;D
So here's the Copper OTS that I nabbed off of ebay for $27 a couple of weeks ago, picked it up while on vacation in Colorado, much to the chagrin of my wife...  And went to work searching for parts online.
I added the ash pot assembly and was able to swap a co-worker my shiny new bowl for his original black bowl.
Added the thermometer and lid bale as well...
My wife was so impressed...she said I could keep it around for awhile  ::)  (as if I would do anything else with this beauty...)

Thanks for looking!

Looks awesome! I just added a thermometer to my '12 black OTS-OTG kettle. I also added the same lid bale.

I was trying to figure what looks different between ours... I didn't know you could mount the ash sweep handle on either side!

I first put it on the other side but the handle didn't line up with the indicated "closed position".  It was more towards the middle when it was closed rather than clear to the left.  So I loosened the thumb nut, pulled the handle out and inserted it from the other side and re-attached the ash pot assembly and it all lined up in the correct position.

How much trouble is it adding the thermometer? I'd like to do that. How much do they run?

The hardest part was center-punching and drilling a perfectly good lid!
Once that is done, it's a snap.
Here's where I ordered it from, it was $8.14 plus shipping.  I ordered some other parts with it so cant tell you exactly what the ship cost was for that one item.

Did u drill two holes?  Or just bend tab down?  I ordered the same ones and plan to install tomorrow. Haven't figured out what to do about the slot/tab.
