My friend snagged an outrider off marketplace, £40 (53usd), he only wanted it for the side vents as his was missing them. He offered it to me for the same price plus petrol, couldn't refuse (I added a drink on top).

Such a cool grill, heard bad things about temps with the side vents but he cooks regularly on his and says it's not a problem, I've yet to use mine. I've always cooked on an SJ not the premium so I'm used to a bottom vent

Made some side vents out of stainless, unfortunately my engraver won't touch them but I've drawn up the artwork to give to my local trophy shop , they'll sort it easy

Rare grill to snag here in the UK, can't wait to use it!

Looks to be in great shape!  Nice work on the custom vent hole covers.  You have skills!  I've never cooked on mine.... Interested to hear how yours cooks.

Thanks man. I spend a lot more time tinkering with grills than actually grilling on them, as you can probably tell lol...I'll send feedback tomorrow as I've got some steaks to go on it. I have a zavod handle inbound for it

That's a great find!
Nothing wrong with cooking on it at all, hot and fast, doesn't matter.

I did some experimenting with mine many years ago and was very pleased.

Great stuff, thanks for the link, looks like you experimented well with it!

Worked out nicely, kept it pretty simple with a mix of indirect and direct, I think it would probably benefit from no charcoal basket and coals kept a bit freer as the sides of the charcoal basket are almost the same height as the vents, or I might drill some holes in the side and back of the basket for more airflow
