St Patrick’s Day Green DD SSP Cleanup
« on: March 17, 2024, 11:40:01 AM »
Hope you all are having a great St. Patrick’s day!  Mine has been busy so far, winding down now, watching golf and going to have an easy filet cook tonight.

What better way to spend this day than to clean up a Weber grill?  I bought this DD code (2000) a few weeks back and cleaned it up today.  I dissembled the entire grill, cleaned everything inside and out then reassembled using stainless steel hardware where I could.  This one came with all original paperwork and fuel tank fill adapter.  Tank is like new and I couldn’t find a spot of rust on the bowl, lid or frame.  Even the lower vent openings and gas assist port are rust free.

A nice clean up, used a pack of razor blades, lots of Brillo Pads and Dawn soap.  Interesting, the difference in shade of green to my DA code.  Didn’t realize that until I got it on the deck.  Also I’m not wild about the paper towel holder, but I’ll keep it for now.  Got some old school charcoal baskets, smoking wood and matches as well.  Oh and the tank has propane in it and the gas assist system works perfectly.

Nice work. I see you have 2 green SSPs.  Intentional to look for green or is that random chance?

Well I could say I was hoping to have two for St. Patrick’s day… But no, these just happened to pop up.  First one a couple years back in GA, this one one was just up the road.  Crazy how these survive for 25 years and look brand new.

That looks like it's brand new - especially now!

I have never had much luck keeping paper towels at the grill.  They always blow around or just get dirty.
But that's a pretty cool towel holder. I like the fork, spoon, knife cutouts. :-)

Grate work as usual Greg!  Clean and looks amazing!

I planned to send pics on a restoration I have done but schedule changed and I’ll have to wait for a couple more nice warm days here in my area!

Thanks for motivation!

Thanks!  Funny, yesterday I put a new roll of paper towels on it, went inside and came out to about 8 ft of towels across the deck.  Not sure if I’ll leave the holder on there or not.  Holes were drilled in the panel to install it, so if I remove it I’ll have to disguise them somehow.
