yet another stainless steel ash sweeps thread
« on: April 16, 2023, 11:23:05 AM »
so i just contacted weber inquiring about stainless steel sweeps.
people have talked about parts 90720, and 90993, which according to weber are BOTH made of stainless steel, and from what I can tell they BOTH use the H drive vs the really old school hex nut.
however, the CS rep at Weber gave me the impression that the two are not interchangable.
on top of that, they have both in stock as well, but 90720 is $13 more expensive than 90993
anybody have any insight that would be a little clearer than mud?

I recently ordered some One Touch Cleaning System Kits from Weber.  They are the less expensive type made from what Weber describes as aluminized metal.  As you can see below, the part number listed on the box is #7444.  It is also the part number listed on Weber's web site for the replacement part of a 22" One Touch Cleaning System.

In the past, I have also ordered the stainless steel type One Touch Cleaning System.  The part number is #90720 and it is interchangeable or can be used as a replacement for #7444 or the older thumb screw style #7409.  They are all for the 22" kettles.  The stainless steel One Touch Cleaning System is not listed on Weber's web site.  When the stainless steel ones were delivered they were not packaged in a box like the ones in the photo above.  They came in a white sealed plastic package with the #90720 marked on the outside.

As for the #90993 part number you mention, I have no first hand knowledge of it.  When Googled, it indicates Amazon, eReplacement Parts and Ebay all show that as the number for the 22" One Touch Cleaning System replacement kit.  It may be #90993 and #7444 are one in the same.

I can't recall the thread I saw it in, but someone in these forums did mention 90993, and I saw the same google results.  That's why I was confused since the CS rep at Weber told me they are both stainless and yet not interchangeable yet I can't see a reason why.

I went through this with Weber a few years back.  I was on the phone with them and the lady said they had the 90720s for $12.  I ordered 6 for future use and just put one on my Summit yesterday.  And yes, they came in a white plastic bag.  I wouldn’t buy the 7444 model unless the SS one is unavailable.

Good info here!

Update: Part #90720 is Stainless Steel and #90993 is Aluminized Steel (Thank you for confirming @Jburns) and both are interchangeable. For whatever reason any time I have received a #90993 it just came wrapped in bubble wrap as seen below. #90720 as @Cellar2ful noted is usually in the white bag.

Weber has a bit of an odd parts numbering system. Essentially any 4 digit part number (#7444, #7409 etc) are retail packaged parts, while the 5 digit version is used for warranty and replacement parts direct.

Are the 90720s still available from Weber?  I thought I had read they were discontinued.

90720 hasn't been discontinued. Plenty of them in stock, but only available by calling Consumer Care. Currently, we don't sell them on Weber.com. 3rd party sites might also have them available.

Good info here.  I have been trying to find some SS sweeps for the past few months, however, I was under the impression they were no longer available from Weber. So I had not contacted Weber. I will now contact them for the 90720’s.  thank you @Jburns

I tried ordering the 90720 sweeps using the online chat. I chatted with 3 different folks and all I got was “the correct sweeps for your grill is 7444”. I explained that I did not want those, I wanted to purchase the 90720 sweeps. Finally I called the customer service line and with some persuasion, was able to purchase the 90720 sweeps. Should be here the end of next week.

Is there a SS model number for the 26”?  Or are all of the 26” sweeps SS?
