22 or 26?
« on: April 14, 2022, 01:17:37 PM »
Hello. I was wondering, is the 22 or the 26 the "standard" size that most people get. Is the 26" "normal"? I want to get the "standard" size that was produced in the '50s or '60s.

For just cooking around me the home my vote would be for the 22”.  It can handle what most families need on a regular basis.  Plus there are more additional accessories designed for the 22 than 26.

22 is the best place to start, but I absolutely love my 26.

Totally agree with @watkins87 my 26” has been my go to since I began cooking on it.  A 22” is a great place to start though and it never hurts to have more than one kettle.

Cost for replacement grates are much cheaper for the 22 vs the 26.

If I had to choose just one between the 22 or 26. It would be the 26.
The 26 comes standard with a stainless steel grate. So no money spent later to upgrade it.
Plus, it is big enough for brisket cooks, multiple slabs of ribs, tons of drums, and wings. Hands down, my second favorite cooker. Only second because my main cooker is a Summit

22 is the standard size and correlates with the 50s-60s standard, though the 26 was available early on too.  Most people have a 22 and most accessories are designed for the 22.  That said, the 26er is my favorite size and I use it more than my 22s.
