The '71 Gasser is here.....
« on: July 10, 2013, 05:15:20 PM »
The good news: It arrived...
The bad news:  The lady used absolutely no packing and it suffered a few paint chips. I'm lucky there are no dents.  I thought I was in big trouble when the UPS guy was bringing it up the driveway and the stand was jutting out of the box. Still very nice.  I can tell it has never been used.

Sorry to hear about the damage....that's so unfortunate.  That's the drawback to have people ship your grill that have no idea how to pack something.   It might be easy to find a gril, and then to get the person to agree to ship it, but the hard part is packing it.  If you've unpacked a grill from Weber, you should know what to do, if not...all bets are off.

It's nice, too bad about the chips. I would like to see a little more of that vent from both sides. I love the double handle design.

Looks great Harris, is the top vent removable?
Looking forward to more pics when it has its legs on

Yes, the  way it was packed I am lucky the grill didn't suffer heavy damage.  It has about 6 surface chips (no dents) that can easily be covered by someone who knows what they are doing.

~  I will post more pictures tonight
~ The enitre grill weighs 56 lbs
~ The color of the grill is a deep ruby red.  Similar to my '73 Statesman but different from other reds I have seen
~ The inside of the grill is absolutely beautiful (you can quickly tell it was never used)
~ all the gas components look great
~ Old school coal and cooking grates - both are in perfect (like new) condition without any rust

Wouldn't have happened had you let a local grab this grill....  (for their own collection)  lol
I've always had gas...  And now a bunch of kettles because of this place.  Thanks!
