I have no idea why Weber produces grills like this.  It's like joining a race to the bottom for mass market el cheapo grills.  Found at Kroger...an 18 inch "premium" Jumbo Joe, as if the 22 wasn't bad enough.

I like my Kettles like my coffee....strong and black.

2019 Black 26" OKP; 2015 Black 22" OKP; 2004 Black SJP; mid 70's Statesman; mid 70's Gourmet, 2017 Black CGA; 2000 Black GGA;

Seeking a Black Sequoia I know I know, I'd settle for just the tabbed no leg grill

They're sold in the UK as well.  They're called Compact Kettles there.

I could have seen buying either one when I worked out of state (it was only supposed to be for a year) in my late 20's/early 30's.  It keeps it up off the ground so you don't have to stoop or have a table to set it on, probably better quality than other things in the same price range, and you can just give it away or pitch it when you move back.

Think about any apartment building you've been in.  Often very few had furniture on the balconies or patios, but often there is a little tabletop grill sitting on the ground.  I'm guessing a fair amount are sold to young people, renters, and anyone with a tight budget who doesn't realize how cheap they can pick up a used one.

If I find a 22 nearby cheap enough, I've thought about cutting one down to make into an XL Jumbo Joe for camping, picnics, the beach, whatever.

Devils advocate for this grill.

Still produced in the USA
Same gauge steel and porcelain enamel
No grate straps to fail.

Charcoal grate to cooking grate is closer than the original kettle, so better searing potential

On the downside, no one touch and it's, frankly, sorta ugly.

Noticed that at my local Pick N Save (Kroger).  Their display has a black triangle though.

Definitely not pretty, unless you have an older Euro version in color:

Obviously looking for a Glen Blue (who isn't?😂).

Looking for anything Happy Cooker, including any re-branded as Montgomery Ward.  I've amassed a nice collection, but I'm missing a few still.  Let me know if you can help a fella out🤞

I was thinking of mentioning yours.  I'll trade you a new one from the Pick n' Save for her.

I originally got a 22 to use for my rotisserie grill. Worked perfect until you gotta clean it.
