I could have seen buying either one when I worked out of state (it was only supposed to be for a year) in my late 20's/early 30's. It keeps it up off the ground so you don't have to stoop or have a table to set it on, probably better quality than other things in the same price range, and you can just give it away or pitch it when you move back.
Think about any apartment building you've been in. Often very few had furniture on the balconies or patios, but often there is a little tabletop grill sitting on the ground. I'm guessing a fair amount are sold to young people, renters, and anyone with a tight budget who doesn't realize how cheap they can pick up a used one.
If I find a 22 nearby cheap enough, I've thought about cutting one down to make into an XL Jumbo Joe for camping, picnics, the beach, whatever.
