I'm new to the WKC but am amazed and impressed at the information and the dedication you all have!
It would be greatly appreciated if you could give a newbie some advice...
Clearing out my parents' house, I offered to take a grill that I knew had been given to my grandfather and never used by him or my father, who stuck it in a corner of the attic decades ago. Getting it home, I realized it is pretty special and found the Age Guide incredibly helpful (Bravo to those who contributed to that!). I am thrilled, but now don't know what to do with it and wonder what any of you think. Fire it up or sell to a collector? If sell, how much is it worth? I tried contacting Weber but haven't heard back from them. Here's what I know:
- My grandfather retired in 1972 or so near Harrisonburg, VA, but the grill seems to be from a few years before that.
- The grill is never used, still in box with all or nearly all of the original packaging. No assembly instructions/parts list, however.
- BK-710 22" The Texan
- no Patent number or Patent Pending on the smoke vent, but the beautiful wooden (walnut?) handle is in perfect condition. Does this mean it's from 1964-1968?
If it is worth selling, what is the best way to do so? I certainly don't want to just post it on Craigslist.
