WGA
« on: May 31, 2013, 04:08:31 PM »
Swung by the Habitat store on the way home.  I am getting very picky these days.  Did not pick up the perfect black Smokey Joe 'A' which was only $7.00.

However,  since I did not own a WGA,  I could not pass up an 'A'   WGA for $7.00. It took me about 13 tries to get some wood handles with a legible  Weber logo on them.    I 'll add some more pictures after I clean it up a bit.

The good stuff never lasts.  This was tagged today.

Picky is good! You have the oldest WGA I've heard of. At 7 bucks that's a steal. I have a love hate relationship with my CGA

Thrift stores are hit and miss around here.  I have picked up some cool vintage bbq items, but not so much Weber stuff.

Awesome!  I've got an "A" GA, also... yours is the 3rd one I've seen.  Looks to be in great condition!  If you happen to go back, and want to pick up the "A" SJ, I'd be happy to reimburse you the cost plus shipping....

Here's the WGA after a bit of cleaning.  So this 'A' code is a 1979 model.

Someone threw out my 0000 steel wool.   >:(

I forgot about these little tabs which hold the lid.

Unfortunately,  there is a little chip in the enamel on the end.

I can't find Brian's Cool photo thread.  Here's one for that thread when I can find it.

Very cool photos!  8)  Love that yellow too!
If I were to pick a favorite style handle ever......it'd be the two rivet design. Love the shape, the look of the rivets...which Brian can replicate easily where needed...and I love the shape & profile of that style.

Nice score!! Since the WGA got banned from Europe a couple years ago they became more and more popular. There are 2 mayor bbq forums in the Netherlands and among the members it became a hype to own a wga. When a wga turned up on a craigslist like site in the Netherlands, they would sell for 40, 50, 60 euro and more for a second handed wga grill (sick).

Luckely since last summer you can find them again in a couple of stores.

Anyway, 7 dollar for a WGA is a super score!! :)
