Red 26r Restore
« on: August 22, 2018, 07:07:08 PM »
Picked up a red 26er a few weeks back.  Saw it posted on CL for free while at work and amazingly it was still there a few hours later.  Needed a handle and an ash pan, otherwise complete.  Just fired it up the first time the other day to burn it out after the clean up.  Ready to cook!

Wow!  You saved that Aristocrat from an uncertain doom and did a super job on that restoration.  Very nice save.

Great work!  Did you make the top handle, or was it from a donor kettle?

The handle is just off a donor black that I ground the porcelain off of.  Still plan to add some paint or find a taco handle to modify into this shape (without the taco) to dress it up a bit more.

I dunno... I kinda liked the vintage wire lid handle... :-) Nice job!
