Ranger restoration pic heavy
« on: August 19, 2018, 02:11:29 PM »
A few days ago Smokevid was able to score this ranger from Facebook market place.  He was on it right away and picked it up the next day.   Myself and Smokevid made a trade for this ranger and I am happy to say I was able to bring it back to life.

That's gorgeous, did you strip the rust and rattle can spray paint it, or sand blast and powdercoated it which is what I would have chosen. Job well done.

Thank you.

I started out cleaning the bowl of old ash and food.  I then started on the lid.  I scrubbed it and took of the bolts holding the lid vent in place.  I replaced it with a screw and washer.   I then straightened up the Handle and replaced the old wood Handel with a Zav replacement. I took the bowl off the cart and rubbed it with rust remover and let it set for awhile.  Then I sprayed it down with a hose and let dry.    I used a high speed drill with a soft wire brush attachment to clean the ranger cart.  I spray painted it with Rust-Oleum ultra black high temp.   The wheel I also used the rust remover and lightly scrubbed with an abrasive cloth.  In between coats of paint and things drying I scrubbed the bowl and lid clean.
