My Performer Score
« on: June 23, 2018, 10:21:15 AM »
It's an AD vent code, which I think means 2010?

Cost me £50 and a two hour round trip.

It's had very little use, partly because I think the original owner was trying to use it as a gasser (grate full of lava rock).

Lack of use aside, the lid has some nasty gouges out of the enamel but the rest of it cleaned up lovely.

The lack of use is apparent when you look at the absence of any serious soot or discoloration on the internal nuts and thermometer.

The char bin was stuffed with barbecue tools (Weber and good grips) and a Weber mitt. Added bonus of two unused char baskets.

After a very productive morning, this is the result.

Gave it all a once over with the power washer when I got it home, but put some hard graft in today.

Work done:

Removed the ash sweeps, soaked and scrubbed.
Razor scraped the bowl, then scrubbed with a green scour pad before finishing with 0000 wire wool.
Same for the lid inner.
Outside given a good scrub with hot soapy water and then window cleaner.
Tackled some of the rust spots with 0000 wire wool.
Fitted the lid bale which was in the char bin (minus one missing roller).

I've still got to do a lot of work on the trolley, table and mesh shelf but I'm ready too cook on it once I've done a burn off (in progress now with some old lump I had in stock).

Nice work, mate! You’ve done well.

Now, let’s see some cooks on ‘er!
It's the iconic symbol for the backyard. It's family/friends, food and fun. What more do you need to feel everything [is] going to be all right. As long as we can still have a BBQ in our backyard, the world seems a bit of a better place. At least for that moment. -reillyranch

I usually use Weber briquettes, but I'm burning this off with some Big K lumpwood.

Nice bit of kit.

Outstanding cleanup.
The missing roller can temporarily
be replaced with a wooden thread spool
or center drilled dowel untia proper replacement
can be procured.

After seeing the first pic, I thought it was missing the lid bale ... Kept scrolling.

Nice little score you got there.  Enjoy! And, welcome!

Firing up for the first cook now, roasting a spatchcock chicken to start with before I crank it up for burgers.
