Jumbo Joe Score! or I Needed One of These, Right?
« on: January 11, 2018, 03:29:40 PM »
There is Always Room for One More...

I know that I have claimed to not be in acquisition mode, but I couldn't help myself. I found this little gem on OfferUp; $15 Jumbo Joe, barely used, and in my favorite color, too!
I figured that even if I hadn't always wanted one, I could want one for $15.

For those that have a JJ, what are your favorite cooks, tips, tweeks, and hacks? I have heard that they run a bit differently than    the old SJP/Outrider style.

You will be glad to have it in the family!!  It is different than a SJ and an 18 OTS.
Agree that searing a pair of steaks with minimal fuel is a specialty of the JJ.  It my go to chimney stand.  Also as an appetizer or veggie fire when you don’t want to disrupt an ideal main dish cook on a different grill.
Probably the best portable or tailgate weber too!

Nice find! I'm debating getting one, but at $15 that's a no brainer!

Nice score! I found a few on clearance at WM around Xmas. Only $20 each! I bought one for myself, one for my father-in-law, and then picked up two more thinking I’d offer them up at my cost + shipping here on WKC. When I took one to the post office, I found out they’d be $45 each to ship.

Oh well, they’re up on CL now. If any of you guys are passing through Colorado and want a brand new one for $20, hit me up. I haven’t cooked on mine yet, but I can’t wait to give it a try.

@jcnaz be sure and share some pics of that first cook! [emoji67]‍[emoji505] I’m also thinking of replacing the top vent bolt with a cheap thermometer from Amazon. Anybody have a suggestion to get the best fit?

Nice pickup. Looks like it's hardly been used.
Looking for colored 18's and SJ's.

I love my jumbo joe....for me it's the perfect picnic, tailgating grill...there is just nothing better, granted I have never used a weber anywhere charcoal grill...that looks awesome too but I have the feeling it will be heavier.

Score!  I drilled mine and put a temperature gauge on it, swapped out the grill for a flip top, and added charcoal rails.  Wish I could find a way to add some sort of ash bucket so the ashes don’t fly off on a windy day, but nobody makes one that will fit.  It’s my go-to grill for camping because it’s so nice and portable!

Any idea what shipping to Germany will cost ?
:-)

In 2017 I imported a kettle and I payed 220$ additional for shipping.

@Jan M. Oh wow, that's commitment! I have no idea how much shipping to Germany would cost, but if you PM me your address, I'd be happy to swing by the post office in the next couple days to check for you.
