2018 is the year of the 18" kettle !!  That is pretty much all that I am searching for this year.

Well, this one is epic, IMO. At least here in Canada.
100% of the credit goes to @greenweb for this rescue.
I sent him the link for the ad, and let him do the rest.  He did not disappoint.

If he chose to keep this, I would have been completely fine with that.
However, he is well aware of my quest for 18 in 18 ... We did the exchange today.

This beauty has been used and abused, but in fine Weber kettle fashion ... Still has many, many years of life left in her.

Here's the "before" pic of a DZ last month:

I did a quick cleanup and added a thermostat from a mid 2000s Genesis Silver A that I parted out a while back:

Since it didn't come with the ash pan, I upgraded to the ash catcher style instead.

Added an aftermarket stainless grate:

My brother told his landlord he was going to leave a kettle at his old place for the next tenant. I made sure he left a rusted out econo kettle and he kept this little beauty. Oddly enough, it’s his birth year.

Another never seen here in Canada 18" kettle rescue.  To bad it was so far away and no one wanted it. After being listed for 7 weeks, I had to save this legless kettle.

Res’qued this DD 18” OTG yesterday.  I’m kind of digging the silicon grommet in the bowl, but the absurdly large thermo has got to go!

I rescued a few 18s, This OTG Blue was the saddest, the backside handle was melted/warped the inside was trashed had to replace both grates and the lid vent is loose i just need to drill out the rivet and replace it. This was the first true OTG that i had seen in the wild

Most hard won is this thumbscrew Redhead, from the time i sent a text and agreement was reached the owner received numerous emails to buy it and ship it for more than double what it was advertised for.

And the twins, i added the OTG ash pans as i like them much better.

18s are very versatile when you add a third grate and for some reason the pictures i had on Photobucket are screwed up :( because  they showed everything loaded up!
Wanted: 18" Platinum any color will work
This is my Kettle there are many like it but this one is mine......

Here is my first 18",and my first Red Head! It was a 3 hour round trip, but I couldn't say no! From what I can tell, it's a '75 or' 76.  Lots of chips and some rust on the bowl, but I'm planning on tackling that this weekend. I have been wanting a red head and a mbh for a while, and this covers both! Quick question, what does everyone put on the rust spots? I'm going to wire wheel them clean, but do I just rub it with canola oil?
