FIRST THE DISCLAIMER:

It seems that are varied opionions on all topics here but there are two cardinal rules that everyone here agrees on:

NO LIGHTER FLUID

NO PAINTING KETTLES

Forgive me, rule #2 was broken.

I got this idea a few years back for football season but the seasons came and went and other projects took precedent.

I got a free beat up OTS a few months back and decided now is the time to pull the trigger.

Three cans of high Heat spray,
Two decals for stencils and
One roll of painters tape for masking and stripes and it's ready:

J

E

T

KETTLE

JETTLE
JETTLE
JETTLE!!!

The paint job is rough. I'm no Picasso and the masking ripped off some of the green.

Going to use a few times to see if the paint can stand up to heat. If it does I may touch up. I think high heat clear-coat would help but we'd need so repainting before that.

If the paint burns then I'll paint flat black and at least have some funny photos.

Besides, if the actual Jets are a major work in progress, why shouldn't the JETTLE be one too.

Looking forward to how it responds to the high heat. Where did you get the grate?

Except for all the Jets crap I think it looks great.  I'm breaking rule#2 also but it isn't done yet.  "GO DOLPHINS".

I personally miss Gary V doing WLTV. Not many people would pair wine with Fruit Loops or Captain Crunch.

Awesome job man love that grate!

The only professional part of this was the grate from built the guys over the burn shop and thought up by wife. My wife got me the grate last year for my performer.

When I recently sold the performer to upgrade to a summit my wife thought, "that jets grate is now useless", I smirked and said I had a plan ; )

Did you buy a green off CL and paint it?

No, i searched for a green and had three near misses. A green would have been easier but I would have felt bad about defacing a colored kettle if this doesn't work out.

A week ago this was a plain Jain beat up OTS. I got it free because the one touch blades were shot. If the paint holds up long term, I may add a  lid bale and gold ash catcher if it gets long term use.

awesome grate and paint idea, but I suspect the decal won't last more than 10 minutes at grilling temperature, even though the paint probably will.
Still searching for a food that does NOT taste better when grilled or smoked
