Finished my table
« on: July 10, 2017, 11:14:41 AM »
Finished my table.  Also had a custom stainless steel ring made to protect the top from the heat (and also hide my terrible tile cuts).  Ring measures 24" ID 26.25" OD with one inch lip hanging down.

That looks good! Lots of storage and prep space. How is the kettle supported?

I cut two slots in both of the diagonal 2x4's that frame the opening for the bowl.  Removed the plastic handles from the bowl and the metal handles fit right into slots.  Then the 2x4's are screwed into frame of table from the side so I can remove the grill any time.  Also I wanted the handles to be hidden and not resting on the tiled top.

I'm a knitter and many years ago taught some pretty advanced classes. I'll tell you the same thing I told my students, when someone compliments you on your beautiful work, the correct response is "thanks!" and not "oh, but you should see this mistake here/rough edge/where I went off pattern, etc.". :)

That table is lovely and Pinterest-worthy! It looks like something you'd see in a Crate and Barrel or Pier 1 catalog and you should be very proud of your handiwork because it's fabulous.

Good stuff bro. It looks like the only kettle support you have there is the handles. Right? You may need to get some more support or the handles could bend under a heavy load.
