SSP upgraded Axle & Wheels

This is what I do for wheels and axle on the SSPs I restore.  It is a SS axle and heavier duty wheels.  A rubber washer next to the frame helps protect the frame.  I don't know that it helps anything, but in install a fender washer inside the wheel, and a smaller one outside the wheel next to the hubcap.  The wheels I use have a larger axle hole than factory.  I use bushings for a good fit between axle and wheel.


The end result is pretty nice.

I think this is the bushing I used to adapt the 1/2" wheel to the 3/8" axle.  These are available in various sizes and lengths.  I've adapted both 5/8" and 1/2" wheels to the 3/8" axles.

That looks awesome.  Where did you get your bushings?  I did the same thing a couple years ago but I couldn't find bushings so I cut up a Coke can and made my own.
